How intelligent is Reiki, really?
One of the biggest myths I have encountered among Reiki practitioners is that Reiki is ‘intelligent’ and knows where to go. It is something we were told when we learned Reiki many years ago, something we didn’t understand when we heard it, but over the years came to experience and understand the true meaning of that statement. But like most scriptures are eventually misunderstood, this statement has undergone distortions in the way it is applied in day to day life.
Does Reiki ‘know where to go’?
We were taught that when we heal someone, we don’t have to be afraid of doing it wrong, or skipping the source of the problem, because Reiki knows where to go. As we practiced more and more, we realized to our delight that sometimes we could sense Reiki flowing to a completely different part of our client’s body. It was amazing. Eventually though, when some of my students who practiced Reiki daily came to me with imbalanced energy systems, I realised that ‘Reiki knows where to go’ might be true, but it is definitely not the complete truth.
In an energy deprived system, Reiki goes where it is given, and that’s it. Reiki automatically flows to where it is needed, when there is enough to go around. Think of it like pouring water on an uneven muddy surface. If the surface is very dry and we pour just a little water, it will get absorbed where it is poured. When we continue to pour, it will spread everywhere, creating an even surface. That’s how Reiki works for most part.
So if your daily Reiki healing is just around 20 minutes or less, it is very important that you are not missing certain chakras on a regular basis, or you will end up with an imbalance. It varies person to person, but in my experience, most people need at least 30 minutes of healing to get rid of the day’s unwanted energies. More if you seek some sort of healing.
Can nothing happen without Reiki’s will?
A lot has been going on today in the name of Reiki. People create their own symbols without really making any prominent spiritual progress themselves, people sell a dozen varieties of Reiki, people teach all levels of Reiki to everyone that walks in, within a month, and people even teach their students meditations and visualizations to ensure loyalty and also to ensure the ‘teacher’ remains rich! How much of this will we pass off as Reiki’s intelligence?
When people learn multiple Reiki levels together, they use the excuse, ‘oh, Reiki wanted it to be this way’. No, it didn’t, because you never surrendered. I ask Reiki to only let those students reach my place, that are truly ready to receive what I am offering that day. Without that kind of request, I cannot say that Reiki will not allow you to come here unless you’re ready, and if you haven’t requested Reiki to not allow you to go to anyone unless you are truly ready, you cannot say that Reiki meant you to learn whatever you have learned. Or mis-learned. Remember that the universe gives you all the free will you need, to mess your life up. To live in alignment, you need to be in surrender.
Ultimately, nothing goes against the divine plan. That includes murders, rapes, wars, lies, deceit, everything. Part of the plan is also to wake up and learn how much of responsibility is ours, and how much we need to surrender. It is easy to draw the line. If accepting whatever life has to offer and doing nothing about it takes you towards a darker future, then it is a sign you need to do something about it. If it is impossible to do anything, then it is the way life is, and we need to embrace whatever is happening, and learn to deal with it the best we can.

Many things are misleading as we listen more to the outer world more than to listen to our own selves.
I just loved the last para, Ashwita. I always felt the strong strong vibrations of the Universe, the only Song of Mother earth. God I feel the watchful eyes of The Mother Universe. I try and try to go to the nearest Yoga teacher who stays one street away, teaching Reiki and everything else absolutely free. Yet i cant make it. No, not excuses, but rather Reasons. Rain, hospital visit, phone calls. Something, oh, something just prevents me! So I gave up and said, C’mon Mother Guide me. Whatever energies, whatever emotions, whatever the lessons, teach me yourself. I’m ready, a clean slate. Open to Life and all its lessons. Sad, good, Bad, happy, You label them. For me its just living my life, maybe a few more years as the Universe planned it. I’m not going to heal myself, Ma’am. Rather I’ll let the Universe heal me every morn and every night. I just surrender. No using my palms or fingers. Just mt intuition, for how else can I connect with her. I love the Universe, the Mother. And we are her bebies. No more Reiki or healing for me. Hello, I have attuned reiki from online vedios on YouTube. I read somewhere that after attunement u feels many sensations that is the sign that u get reiki power? Is this true?

Hello Hani, Yes many people experience sensations during an attunement and when they heal themselves through Reiki. Reiki cannot be learned from a video, just like you cannot receive a hug from a video. It needs a teacher’s presence. Sometimes it is possible to learn through Skype if the teacher is highly experienced, but from what I have observed, anyone with less than 2-3 years of experience with Reiki is very rarely qualified even for an in-person attunement, let alone an online one, which needs even more experience. Sometimes like a video attunement, I personally believe is a complete hoax. The Reiki process is so beautiful that after following it for a few months you will start channeling the energy (in many cases, not all) even without an attunement, so all a video ‘attunement’ does is put you in touch with that possibility, that’s all.
