Q&A: Do We Need to Heal Trauma to Receive Guidance?
What you are saying means unless we heal our traumas, insecurities and other issues that cloud us, we will not be clearly ask and receive the right guidance. but we build attachment for our traumas, in the way for example jilted lovers like sad love songs. one can hold on to traumas forever, keep glorifying it. how to make the jump from nursing our traumas (to whatever degree we do) and wanting freedom from them?
Also traumas serve a functional role in our life. failure may teach us to work hard, etc. if certain life lessons are closely tied to traumas how to imagine achieving the same results without the trauma? how to want this clear guidance if one has no idea of what it feels like and if it works?
Yes we glorify and get attached to our traumas – and as long as we’re happy to have our traumas, actually there is no problem. It is just another phase and it is OK to pass through this. To be honest it is a phase I judged at the beginning of my career. I judged clients that I felt were attached to their pain and unwilling to heal. Took me a while to notice I did it too, then things changed. It is a part of the cycle, and I believe one mustn’t disturb people when they want to be left alone with their pain.
The next phase is when you want to get out because you want the joy that other people have but you’re not willing to let go of your stories either. This is where a good therapist is of great help. The next phase is when you’re sincere and willing to do anything to get out – this is where we often receive the maximum support from the universe as well.
How do we learn lessons without trauma? Mostly be developing a continuously learning mindset, we learn faster, better and minimize our suffering. There still will be wounding and pain, they are part of our bouquet of experiences on earth. Pain becomes trauma if we start viewing all of life with the filter of one experience. That can be minimised with practice of being present – when you realise every single moment is different, you are free to feel any pain and joy this moment brings and be attached to neither.
