Q&A: Jinxes and Reiki
We have some interesting discussions on our Reiki whatsapp group. The latest one was on jinxes and how it affects us, and I thought many of you might relate to this. Here’s an excerpt.
Hello Ashwitaji, Help required.
I know this is wrong way of seeing things but I have a strange thought process. When ever I start appreciating or giving value or start to feel good about something happening or start speaking about good happening in my life all of a sudden that thing or moment stops to happen and this makes me very irritated with situation making me stop appreciating anything because of the fear that it will stop happening.
Just FYI I do self healing atleast thrice a week but feel need more connection with universal energy.
What should I do even though I am not negative because of this people consider me negative and frustrated.
Many others replied to this post, sharing that they experienced something similar either occasionally or frequently.
Ashwita: Life reflects back your own inner situation. If you subconsciously believe that whatever makes you happy, also makes you superior to people, then you’re going to attract this sort of problem- nazar, drishti, evil eye, etc. Ultimately there’s a small corner within us that wants others to feel a bit jealous. This is what causes this whole problem.
Jinx in my understanding is simply the subconscious mind destroying anything that is intended to invoke negativity (jealousy here) from another person. In my belief it happens to people who are spiritually evolved enough to not want to create problems through evoking negative emotions in others, but haven’t yet transcended getting a kick out of feeling superior and adding to their sense of self.
Simply tell your loved ones that you end up jinxing your own happiness so you’re not going to share anything good until it’s over. They usually understand.
If you practice 30-40 min Reiki daily, you will be fairly protected from this kind of thing. To increase the effect, practice flooding when you’re in a group of people. This should keep such incidents to a bare minimum. On top of this, every night just before you go to sleep if you just request Reiki to bring up the root cause of this problem, something might come up in a few days if it is time for this issue to be resolved.

Hi Carol, I always recommend in such a case that a family member learn Reiki and heal the person everyday. Even if someone manages to come to your place – I can check with my students – they will definitely not be able to come daily, maybe once a week, and that is really not enough. Daily healing will bring much more benefit, and it is also much more economical and karmically sensible for a family member to learn and heal the person.
I am new to Reiki practice, just finishing Level 1 and recently found your website. Your articles have been very helpful, especially related to the self healing daily practice. Several of your articles mention asking Reiki for specific help just before sleeping. Is this like prayer? I’m still trying to sort out my relationship with Reiki. I think that will clarify as time and practice go on, but right now, I don’t know if I should address Reiki in the same way one would pray to ‘God ‘. I’ll talk to my teacher about this and I would like your input as well. Thank you.
