Anger & Energy – Part II
… Continued from Understanding Anger
Anger problems are associated with an imbalance in the solar plexus. Since this is an emotion associated with survival, anger issues are often very deeply rooted in the system and need time to be completely healed. The element of the solar plexus is fire. When this fire is well balanced and in check, it is very useful. It keeps the digestive fire healthy, it regulates the fire of ambition as well as anger, and the body temperature is well balanced.
Energetic imbalances in the solar plexus can create a spate of problems, starting with the digestive system. People either cannot bear hunger at all, or rarely get hungry. They might have a very strong digestive power, or be able to digest nothing, throwing up frequently. They might sweat too much or none at all. They might be too energetic, or have no energy at all. Some people might fluctuate between all the states mentioned above. Other typical problems are stomach, liver or intestine issues, skin problems and allergies.
When the fire goes completely out of bounds, it spreads to the heart and the hara chakras. The heart shuts down, and while the person may not always seem so on the surface, he or she can be extremely cold-hearted, completely indifferent to others’ pain if there is a conflict of interest. A shut down heart often brings along with it stiffness or pain in the shoulders. When anger moves up to the heart, is when it turns to rage. Anger is about survival. Rage is emotional, blind, intense. Those who experience rage either have extreme and unreasonable anger outbursts or never get angry, often masking their anger with sarcasm and cunning.
The hara gets affected too. Hara is the water element, and too much fire dries it up. This will result in dryness of skin, or other skin problems, and also either an intense sex drive, none at all, or a fluctuation between the two states.
In some very rare cases, the fire moves still farther out, consuming the throat and the root as well. In these cases, people will become unstable, unable to function normally. As the throat is affected, it worsens their problem because they will be unable to effectively communicate what is on their mind, including what they are going through. An unstable root will make it very difficult to perform daily activities, as little things in their environment would trigger intense emotions.
We will see how to heal anger and rage in the next post, Healing Anger.
